Abdullah chose Foundation Studies as a pathway to a Bachelor of Architecture. Moving to a large city was a big adjustment.

We are encouraged to develop and create our own style and to explore and expand our ideas.
Abdullah made the decision to come to Melbourne to study to give himself every opportunity for future success. “I had heard a lot about Melbourne and what it offers. I felt that by coming here I would grow as a person and give myself endless opportunities.”
He first found the transition from his home country in Saudi Arabia to Melbourne difficult, “It was extremely tough, I am not from a city and so moving to a place like Melbourne was hard. Life back home was easier than here, everything was close and not as complex as living in a large city.” Luckily he settled in quickly and now feels like he has learnt a lot.
Abdullah has also been impressed with how the Foundation Studies program is so aligned with what will be studied in the bachelor program. “I feel that everything I have done so far in Foundation Studies has extreme significance to what a student would be doing in the Architecture Bachelor. The teachers really focus on what the individual student wants to explore and they encourage us to expand our ideas. This has really allowed me to develop my own style.”
