This project assisted in engaging more young people in the practical application of solar power and related sustainable energy technology.
This was done through enabling young people to participate in the 2005 World Solar Challenge (WSC). A group of Western district people with a keen interest in the practical applications of solar energy became involved in the RMIT University supported Aurora Vehicle Association based in Melbourne which led to their participation in the challenge.
Two of the report outcomes were to establish a formal committee so that important decisions on administrative and technical issues could have some form of documented agreement and to appoint a team leader to coordinate the administration of finances and documentation, promote team activities to obtain sponsorship funding and for ongoing team inspiration and motivation. This was with the intention to enter the WSC event in October 2007.
The Fellowship recipient was Robert Cadden.
