Damian Grenfell, Director of the Globalism Research Centre at RMIT, is working as part of a team undertaking an independent review of AusAID's engagement with civil society in Timor-Leste.
The team will be in Timor-Leste from the 21 January to the 9 February to carry out in-country interviews with the Australian Embassy, Timor-Leste Government and civil society stakeholders.
The review will focus on three key elements in particular, including:
- The current issues or trends affecting the role and capacity of CSOs in Timor-Leste;
- The extent to which AusAID’s engagement with CSOs are aligned with the Agency’s Civil Society Engagement Framework ;
- Identifying the optimal mechanism or modality for ensuring that civil society engagement is effective, sustainable and efficient.
The final report is expected to be completed by the end of March and will be published on the AusAID website.
