We work with industry and have close partnerships with a large range of international and local companies, government and industry organisations.
Boeing Australia and Carbon Revolution are amongst our current project partners, and we have research agreements in place with the Federal Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).
We also collaborate with the Defence Materials Technology Centre (DMTC) and the Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Advanced Composite Structures, the Advanced Manufacturing CRC and the Auto CRC.
Recently, we have provided vital research to the Royal Australian Air Force on the composite components of its carbon fibre aircraft. This has allowed it to better manage these aircraft and extend the lifetime of its fleet.
The majority of industry partnerships are collaborative- we provide office space, research facilities and equipment, with the industry partner providing funding. Fully commercial project arrangements also occur, whereby RMIT charges fees for accessing the Wackett Centre's facilities, and hires additional staff to carry out project research.
