As a professional writer and editor with six years’ experience, Pradhnya undertook a Master of Writing and Publishing to advance her career and stand out from the pack.
I’ve worked in content creation for six years, publishing hundreds of articles, blog posts and press releases online. But I felt that I could still improve my writing and editing skills, and this drive to achieve excellence led me to complete a Master of Writing and Publishing at RMIT.
I researched RMIT extensively and found that the university is a multicultural environment, its teaching staff are easy to approach and you get hands-on experience of the publishing industry. The lecturers are professionals with decades of experience in the industry, and they offer valuable, practical advice on how to overcome challenges as a writer, editor or publisher.
Furthermore, the course offers many internship opportunities which help students get valuable hands-on experience in the industry for themselves. At Bowen Street Press, RMIT’s in-house publishing operation, we collaborate with different departments and form important relationships with other students, teaching staff and external stakeholders. This is one of the keys to success in the field, because writing and publishing is so collaborative.
If you are interested in the publishing industry then this course is for you. You will be prepared for all the possibilities of a career in the publishing industry, as a writer, editor, publisher or production manager.
The learning experiences and internship opportunities I’m getting at RMIT will prepare me for a rewarding career in writing and publishing.
